So I know a lot of brides have been wondering and I feel that really I should post some feedback now that our Wedding day is done! It is quite sad, but also a huge relief when I no longer have to worry about who we are/aren’t inviting, who’s eating what and who is friendly with who, it is officially no longer my problem!
Being a Wedding planner myself, I planned the bulk of my day myself, I must say, it is much harder to do my own than to do other peoples’, there are so many other emotions that come in to it when it is your own, I now know exactly how my brides are feeling!
Anyway, on to the details of the day:
Venue – Vincci Estrella del Mar 5*****, Marbella, Spain
This is a venue that I work with occassionally, but not so much so that it felt like work, I was treated like an absolute princess from the second I arrived at the door to the hotel until the second we checked out. There were bellboys there to help me carry the thousands of decorations I had with me, and of course The Dress. Each and every single member of staff were completely faultless, I have slight control issues, and I suppose being in the industry didn’t make it any easier for me, but they were truly exceptional. The food was outstanding and everyone commented on the attentive waiters and barmen. I was abolutely devasted when it came to checking out, but I cannot wait to return for our anniversary trip!
Photography – Pierre Richardson
We are yet to receive the professional photos and are trying very hard to wait as patiently as possible, but judging from his previous work, I’m sure they will be fabulous. Pierre was fantastic on the day and made sure it was definitely more of a Wedding day than a photoshoot!
Videography – Bob Long & Chloe
We have just received the first of our video edits and we are absolutely delighted with it! It’s had the whole family in tears so can’t wait to see the longer edits also. Bob and Chloe are always super professional, it felt very strange to be the bride and to be on that side of the lens, but they were both great on the day and very unobtrusive.
Hair & Make-up – Sharon Crutchley & Paula
These girls were just fabulous, they made us all feel like princesses and were super friendly throughout the hours they spent helping us prepare. I also had Sharon come back in the evening for a make-up pitstop which was fantastic, ideal for topping up the makeup and a quick fix for the hair after the first of the dancing!
Ceremony music – Amanda Rosa
Amanda learnt some new songs especially for our ceremony, as she knows how much I hear the traditional Wedding songs and was desperate for something different. Our family and friends were absolutely blown away by her talent and we’ve had a few asking for her to make them a CD!
Drinks reception music – Kurt (Guitar)
This bit was my mum’s input. As far as mothers of the bride go, mine was very laid back, her only request was that we have acoustic guitar at one part of the day. Kurst was great in giving the laid back relaxed atmosphere that we wanted for the drinks reception, it was perfect music in the beachside setting.
Entertainment – Masquerade
Masquerade are a singer and guitar duo, they are outstanding and don’t do a huge amount of Weddings, which was my main reason in booking them! The music is a great mix of 90s & 00s dance, as well as lots of modern stuff. They pleased everyone from the kids to the grandparents and had the dancefloor full all night!
DJ – David Hixson
We knew that our party was likely to last longer than Masquerade’s 3 sets, so we chose Dave for the music after the band finished. He was great and kept the party going, again keeping the dancefloor full for the remainder of the night!
Flowers – Bunches Florist
Shona at Bunches provided the flowers for our wedding day which were beautiful. I know my bridesmaids didn’t want to ever take off their hair garlands.
Wedding Dress – Rosa Novias
Getting my Wedding dress was quite a spur of the moment thing, I had looked at a lot in Dublin and Manchester, not to mention the thousands online, but I actually ended up falling in love with mine in a little shop called Rosa Novias in Moron de la Frontera, Seville. Rosa, the lady in charge was absolutely lovely and put in hours and hours of hard work to making sure that my dress was perfect. She was fantastic, I’m a little upset now that the trips to Seville will be over!
Accommodation & Welcome – Sunset Beach Club
As Vincci Estrella del Mar is quite an expensive hotel and around an hour’s drive from the airport, we thought it might be a little inconvenient for some of our guests, so we chose my second home – Sunset Beach Club – As the base for our guests. We also arranged with Sunset beach Club a Spanish Welcome party of paella and champagne at Luna Beach Club on the night that the guests arrived, as well as a day after BBQ for guests to feed their hangovers. Sunset Beach Club were fantastic in accommodating our guests and our extra events, all staff were friendly and helpful throughout the week.
On the day Planner – Kerry Vear-Smyth
My colleague Kerry took the task of co-ordinating everything for me on the day, she was great and it really did allow me to relax and enjoy the day.
We were blown away with how great our Wedding day was and cannot thank each and every one of our suppliers enough!
